Freckle Pigment Removal - Photo Rejuvenation
What is IPL?
IPL technology is a treatment breakthrough that can correct your benign skin imperfections like
- Pigmentation and blemishes
It offers a safe non-invasive solution that can be tailored to your individual condition and skin type, providing superior cosmetic results and outstanding satisfaction. It improves both the superficial and deeper skin layers and rejuvenates the skin, while at the same time delivering beneficial thermal energy to deep tissue. With full face treatments your result will be a firmer, smoother revitalized skin.
How is the Photo-rejuvenation procedure performed?
After any necessary cleansing of the skin you will be given dark glasses to wear to protect your eyes from the bright light. The smooth surface of the IPL hand-piece is gently applied to your skin and through which pulses of light are emitted. You will feel a slight and sometimes uncomfortable sting as the pulses move over the area we are treating. Depending on the size of the area, it may take 5-20 minutes per treatment.
Why are multiple treatments necessary ?
Depending on the severity of the problem, 3 - 6 treatment sessions may be recommended, however excellent results can be expected from just one treatment. We prefer you not to exercise 24 hours before or after your treatment. You can return to work the next day and resume all your normal activities however in some cases of excessive sun damage and if you are having a half or full face treatment you may have some swelling for about 3 days after treatment. Immediately after the treatment we recommend you go home and relax with cool compresses on the skin for at least a couple of hours. The skin may even swell the following day and cold cloths may be needed for your comfort. There is no swelling if you are only having a couple of age spots done.
How does IPL work for Age Spots, Pigmentation and Freckles?
The light emitted from the IPL is attracted to the abnormal pigment, rapidly heating the area whilst keeping the surrounding skin cool. The pigment is destroyed whilst the healthy skin is left safe and intact. The destroyed pigment will darken initially, when either flake off a few days later or will be absorbed by the body. Some freckles or pigment will lighten sufficiently after 1 treatment whilst other areas may need a follow up procedure.
What areas of the body can be treated?
The IPL treatment to remove freckles and pigmentation works brilliantly on the face, neck , chest, hands and can target individual spots on the arms, legs and back. But it can be taken on full body without any hesitation.
Who can have IPL treatments done?
Any man or woman with fair to medium complexion. You must not have any fake tan on the skin and preferably have little to no sun tan at all. With dark complexion, people's treatments are given with caution.
