Our feet endure and support us all day: they deserve special care ... at least once in a while. It is in summers, in general, that we remember that the feet require the same care of the hands, thanks to sandals and flip-flops: but, even when closed in shoes, the feet need attention all year round! Even without thinking about aesthetics, the feet are the basis of our well-being. A salon specializing in traditional Chinese massage, is: " Everything passes from the feet. In traditional Chinese medicine, taking care of the feet is very important. The feet are the roots of health ".
Step 1: Footbath
After removing the enamel, the most important thing is to do a foot bath in warm water. The footbath serves to soften the skin and skin, facilitating the elimination of dead skin. To relax even more, you can add sea salt to the water.
The right gestures: when you leave the shower or the tub, dry your feet well, even between your fingers!
Step 2: Scrub and exfoliation
Dead skin, calluses, calluses ... The imperfections are not lacking. But every problem has a solution.
To remove the thick and hardened skin that accumulates on the heel, use a rasp or a pumice stone and rub gently but without hesitation to smooth the roughness and soften the skin. The heel is often covered with this dead skin, but we must not forget " the soles of the feet and the upper part of the fingers. These areas undergo continuous rubbing and can develop thick layers of hard skin.
If calli or calluses develop, there are razor blade rasps available at the pharmacy for superficial care. These tools allow to remove a small layer of hard skin. However, podiatrists warn about the risks associated with these tools: misused, they can cause injuries. So if you really want to try them, follow the instructions carefully: do not use the clipped rasp on irritated, wet or moist skin; do not press on the rasp and remove only a thin layer of skin, progressively.
For more lasting treatment of corns and calluses, it is advisable to consult an expert pedicure.
Attention: the rasps and the crowbars should be avoided by diabetic people, who must at all costs stay away from wounds, sores, micro-injuries or infections on the feet.
The right gestures: after a first thorough pedicure, to keep your feet soft and healthy, make a scrub using a pumice stone or a rasp once a week.
Durons, calluses and dead skin
The calluses and calluses: when the shoes exert a constant pressure, the skin reacts by thickening and creating a hard, more or less painful, horny path. The calluses are generally located on the soles of the feet, the calluses on the fingers.
Dead skin: when the level of hydration decreases, the skin becomes dry and calloused. A layer of hard skin forms on the pressure zones (heel, plant and contour of the feet). At a later time the skin can crack.
Step 3: Beauty care
Once the feet are free of calluses and dead skin, the moment of beauty care comes. Start by repelling the cuticle (skin) using an orange wood stick, while the feet are still wet, then dry them well. File your nails when they are beautiful dry. Limiting wet and soft nails can ruin them.
Then, cut or file the nails respecting their natural shape. If they are not too long, just limit them. In the opposite case, a nail cutter will be necessary to shorten it. Be careful not to go too far in the corners. What is the right length? The one that allows the nail not to protrude beyond the fingertip.
Finally, hydrating your feet is essential to nourish them and make them soft. Better to choose a moisturizer for dry feet. A higher concentration of moisturizing agents gives better hydration.
The right gestures: to moisturize the feet once a day, preferably in the evening, avoiding to apply too much cream between the toes. And if the heels are really dry, choose a cream specially for very ruined heels, to be applied for 8-10 days.
